The Loss of a Friend- Guy Elliott

Guy EIliott
It is with regret that we share the news that Guy Elliott, a colleague and friend, has sadly fallen to cancer.

The Telestream family was privileged to call Guy one of our own. Guy joined us in 2016 but was a friend to the company long before that.  The international video community is amazingly small and tight-knit, and Guy was highly regarded in that community, as much for his expertise and professionalism as his genuine warmth and humor.

Guy was a tireless sales professional.  His work in broadcast technology stretches back to the late 70s, and he demonstrated great enthusiasm and talent for regional business strategy.  We first connected with him professionally through his own consultancy, EMEA Gateway.  In that endeavor, Guy leveraged his strong relationships in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to connect users and vendors, creating meaningful new business models.

Guy was a relationship-builder.  People understood that he knew his subject matter, was a diligent problem solver, and was just a genuinely great person to work with.  He made work fun and personal.   Many of our industry friends knew Guy from trade shows.  Everybody wanted to speak to Guy and shake his hand.  It was difficult to walk 10 meters down any aisle with Guy, he was stopped so frequently by those who knew and loved him.  After the work day was done, he would continue to enjoy the company of his industry friends and colleagues – so much so that he was often the last person at the table… and might be asleep there.

Guy was always ready to help a colleague, whether you were new to the industry or a longstanding veteran.  He made himself available to give guidance and provide support wherever it was needed. He was selfless about that, and it was an invaluable quality in the fast-paced world of technology.

It is a testament to his strong personality that so many friends and colleagues have reached out to offer condolences and share their fond memories.  We remember Guy for his warmth, his strength, his enthusiasm, and his zest for life. His passing leaves a void that will be felt widely in our professional community.  Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
